Nigerian
troops in the south-south part of Nigeria maybe set to confront the
rampaging Niger Delta militants following a recent security meeting.
The leadership of the Nigerian
Army has renewed commitment to tackle militancy in the Niger Delta
Region. The information was revealed after a meeting of the general
officers commanding presided over by the Chief Army Staff, Lt General
Tukur Buratai at the Army Headquarters in Abuja.
Niger Delta militants have continued to increase in numbers in the
last two months with outrageous demands. Reports have it that some
Nigerian soldiers guarding the targeted oil and gas pipelines in the
creeks have been attacked of late and the military has vowed to take the
battle to the assailants.
