Mr. Sowore, spoke at the launch of Civic Media Lab, held in Ikeja, Lagos.
Mr. Sowore, speaking on his motivation, said he was disappointed in the way Nigerian youth demography was “paralysed” by the system, rather than leverage on the platform of citizen advocacy.
The Sahara Reporters publisher also described agitation on twitter as mere noise that cannot take Nigeria to the promise land.
“Forget about the noise on twitter, it has no depth; it is very shallow,” Mr. Sowore said.
“I don’t think Twitter can take us to promise land,” he added.
Similarly, Mr. Sowore took a swipe on folks referred to as “social media influencers” on Nigerian cyber space, adding that they do not think progressively about how a nation should be built.
Earlier, Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka, had launched the centre, describing the effort as commendable.
The event is still ongoing at the time of this report.
