Musiliu Obanikoro visits Bola Tinubu

Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro.
The Former Minister of Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro was at the Ikoyi residence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, Bola Tinubu recently.

According to Daily Post, Obanikoro was in the company of some prominent lagosians to present the staff of Eyo to Tinubu.

Among the dignitaries were: Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa; and a former Deputy Governor of Lagos state, Femi Pedro.

Speaking on Obanikoro’s visit, Tinubu’s spokesman, Tunde Rahman said “I don’t think there is more to the visit. It’s been in the public domain that Senator Musiliu Obanikoro has reconciled with his political leader. So, if you see him around Asiwaju, you should understand within that context.

“He (Obanikoro) even said it publicly that he has retraced his steps and come back home. He said when he went astray, he thought Asiwaju would reach out to him but that now, he has retraced his steps… He joined those who came to present the staff of Eyo to Asiwaju as a mark of respect.

There are unconfirmed reports that the former defence minister is planning to decamp to the All Progressives Congress (APC) due to the crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Reports say the Governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose has also threatened to leave the PDP if the Supreme Court declares Ali Modu Sheriff, the chairman of the party.

Some Nigerians have also alleged that many politicians who have cases with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are decamping to the APC to avoid prosecution.
